Most NDIS group programs follow the same formula. Same activities. Same routine. Show up, do a thing, go home. There’s nothing wrong with that, but there’s nothing to look forward to either.
Our Creative Group Excursions are built differently. Comedy nights at beach clubs. Escape rooms. Concerts. Disco nights. 3D mini golf in hand-painted immersive rooms. Every month, TNWA’s Social Solutions Coordinator plans 1-2 unique outings, split between youth and adult groups, and no two look the same.
Transport to and from your home or preferred pick-up point. Meals included. Small groups with limited spots. Support from TNWA workers the whole time. And here’s the part most people don’t expect: you don’t need to be a current TNWA client to join.
WHAT A CGE LOOKS LIKE
But it’s more than variety for its own sake. It’s the feeling of having something to look forward to. Of being part of a group that does things worth doing. Of walking away with a story, not just a tick on a calendar. Perth’s latest events, the venues people are talking about, and every piece of feedback from the last excursion. We keep track of all of it, so accessible social inclusion isn’t just a phrase, it’s what actually shows up on the calendar. Our Social Solutions Coordinator sources experiences and plans an outing once or twice a month, split between youth and adult groups.
Every excursion includes transport to and from home or your preferred pick-up/drop-off point, a meal budget, and support from a qualified TNWA team leader and support workers throughout. Participants show up and enjoy it. Families don’t need to organise a thing.
WHAT MAKES A CGE DIFFERENT
There are plenty of NDIS group activities in Perth. Most follow the same handful of activities on repeat. TNWA’s Creative Group Excursions were built to break that pattern. Here’s how:
Each excursion is designed with intentional outcomes in mind, for example:
Every activity aligns with the participants NDIS goals, so participants are working toward something meaningful while doing something they enjoy.
Every CGE runs with a small group and a capped number of spots. Alongside our support workers, each excursion is led by a dedicated TNWA Team Leader who coordinates the team and handles anything that pops up during the day.
Keeping groups small is a deliberate call. It means better support ratios, more meaningful interactions, and a better day out for everyone involved.
Each excursion covers the activity, a meal budget, transport to and from home or your preferred pick-up/drop-off point, and support from TNWA workers throughout. Participants show up and enjoy it.
You don’t need to be a current TNWA participant to join a Creative Group Excursion. CGEs are open to all NDIS participants with available funding under Support Category 04, and a TNWA support worker is included as part of every excursion. New to us? Fill out a quick expression of interest form online or give us a call to get started.
ACCESSIBILITY & SUPPORT
We’re committed to making every excursion accessible for every participant. If someone needs specific support, equipment, or modifications to fully take part, we want to know about it before registration, not on the day. Call us on (08) 6556 8870 and we’ll talk through what adjustments we can make.
Some activities involve sensory elements like bright colours, visual effects, or loud environments. If a participant has sensory sensitivities, we’ll discuss the specific activity details with you beforehand so you can make an informed decision about whether it’s a good fit.
HOW IT HELPS PARTICIPANTS REACH THEIR GOALS
Creative Group Excursions are designed to help participants build real skills and confidence through community participation. The goals aren't tacked on. They're built into the experience itself.
Building Confidence Accessing New Community Venues
Every excursion takes participants somewhere new. A venue they haven't been to before, a part of the city they haven't explored, a situation they can navigate with the right support beside them.
Practising Decision-making & Social Interaction
Ordering from a menu with a meal budget. Choosing how to approach an activity. Working through an escape room challenge with peers. These skills develop naturally when participants are out in the community making real choices.
Exploring New Interests
Trying things they might never have tried on their own — live music, comedy shows, creative challenges, escape rooms. Each excursion is a chance to discover something new.
Strengthening Social Connections
Meeting new people in a supported group setting. Building friendships. Belonging to something that happens regularly and gives participants a reason to look forward to the next one.
HOW IT WORKS
Step 1: Check what’s coming up.
Our Social Solutions Coordinator plans 1-2 excursions per month, split between youth and adult (18+) groups. Each excursion is announced with full details: what, where, when, who it’s for, and what to bring. Sign up to our mailing list to be first to know, or keep an eye on our website and socials.
Step 2: Secure your spot.
Already a TNWA participant? RSVP directly when an excursion catches your eye. Keep an eye on your emails, or call us on (08) 6556 8870 to let us know you’re interested.
New to TNWA?
Step 3: We handle the rest.
Transport to and from your home or preferred pick-up/drop-off point, the activity, meals, support. Everything is sorted. Participants just need to show up ready to go.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I need to be a current TNWA client to join a CGE?
No. Creative Group Excursions are open to all NDIS participants, subject to available funding under Support Category 04 (Assistance with Social and Community Participation). If you’re new to TNWA, sign up to our mailing list to stay across upcoming CGEs and fill out the EOI form when you find one you’d like to attend. Our intake team will confirm your available support funding, set up a service agreement, and make sure you have all the excursion details before the day.
How often do excursions run?
Our Social Solutions Coordinator plans 1-2 excursions per month, usually split between youth and adult (18+) groups. Each excursion is announced with full details ahead of time.
What kind of activities are included?
Every excursion is different, and that’s the point. Past outings have included comedy and quiz nights at beach clubs, escape rooms, concerts, disco nights, and 3D mini golf in immersive venues. Activities are creative, community-based, and designed to be experiences participants look forward to and talk about afterwards.
What's included in the cost?
Everything. The activity itself, a meal budget, transport to and from home or your preferred pick-up/drop-off point, and support from qualified TNWA workers throughout. Participants just need to bring a water bottle, any regular medications, and their companion card if applicable.
How is this funded through the NDIS?
CGEs are funded under NDIS Support Category 04 (Assistance with Social and Community Participation). Call us on (08) 6556 8870 or chat with your Support Coordinator about how this fits within your plan.
What if a participant has sensory sensitivities or accessibility needs?
Call us on (08) 6556 8870 before registering. We’ll talk through the specific activity, discuss any adjustments we can make, and help you decide whether it’s a good fit. We’d rather have that conversation upfront than have someone arrive unprepared.
How do I secure a spot?
Current TNWA participants can RSVP directly when the excursion is announced. New participants can call us on (08) 6556 8870 or fill out the intake form. Each excursion has an RSVP deadline and spots are limited, so getting in early is worth it.
What's the difference between a CGE and a Custom Care Experience?
Creative Group Excursions are group outings that run on a regular monthly calendar and are open to all NDIS participants. Custom Care Experiences are individualised, one-on-one day outings designed entirely around a single participant’s goals and interests. Both are purpose-driven, but CGEs are about shared social experiences and CCEs are about personalised, intensive support.
